Glover Park Alliance Wins DC Main Streets Grant for Woodley Park

WASHINGTON, DC — November 16, 2025 — Glover Park Alliance (GPA), the nonprofit that operates Glover Park Main Street (GPMS), today announced it has been awarded the DC Main Streets grant for Woodley Park Main Street (WPMS) for fiscal year 2026.

"This is an honor," said Kate Dean, GPA's executive director. "We are so proud to be recognized for the years of hard work in Glover Park, and to bring that experience and care for the community to our neighbors on Connecticut Avenue. We're going to hire staff and get to work."

DC Main Streets programs promote the revitalization of neighborhood business corridors. Operators focus on the hyperlocal needs of small businesses, property owners, and community members, following the national model developed by Main Street America: community-driven economic vitality, design, organization, and promotion. Main Street programs work to retain and recruit businesses, attract foot traffic to the corridors, and serve as a point of contact for business operators navigating a changing regulatory landscape.

GPA has operated in Glover Park since FY2020. In that time, it has provided more than $350,000 in direct aid to businesses, delivered hundreds of hours of technical assistance, improved 14 building facades, created placemaking projects, and hosted family-friendly community events. After six years, GPA is excited to add a second neighborhood.

"Glover Park fought hard for a Main Street program in 2019, and we've seen firsthand the difference that investment makes in a commercial corridor. We're excited to bring that experience and energy to Woodley Park," said Jackie Blumenthal, Chair of the Glover Park Alliance Board of Directors.

For now, Woodley Park businesses and residents can follow the group’s progress on www.gloverparkmainstreet.org, and we will announce changes as they develop.
