The applications open once per fiscal year, and you can apply each year. There is no limit to the number of years in a row that you can apply for a grant. If you are awarded a grant, you are still eligible to apply for the following year.

Grant applications are reviewed once the application period ends. Applications are not reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

You do not have to pay the money back. We may request receipts, photos, or testimony to ask how the grant impacted your business.

At this time, we are only able to accept applications from businesses with an active business license. We make our best effort to announce in advance when the applications are opening and the application stays open for 4-6 weeks. We hope this allows for flexibility, but if you need help with your business license, please reach out to us and we'll be happy to help.

Grant awards may not always cover the full cost of your project. We do our best to fund complete requests, but funding is limited each year and we aim to support as many businesses as possible. When the application opens, we'll share the amount we're confident we can fund at that time. If your award doesn't cover your full project cost, you'll need to cover the remainder through other means, but we can help connect you with other DC government grants or private loan options that may fill the gap.
